The existing site was occupied by a chalet bungalow backing onto Poole Harbour, with outstanding views across to Brownsea Island. The Client's brief posed a number of challenges due to the site being within a flood risk area which meant raising the ground floor 1.8m above existing ground levels. Primary objectives were to take advantage of the views across Poole Harbour and this was helped by the raised levels, allowing a decked area to the rear of the property set in front of a glazed elevation.
